In this print, Indiana reinterprets his iconic "LOVE" image with a new word: "HOPE." The original "LOVE" became an emblem of the 1960's peace movement. In 2008, Indiana updated the motif to support future president Barack Obama. He called HOPE "LOVE's close relative."
