Lot Details

Robert Graham created this edition for the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles from 1992-1995. This exquisite bronze of the female nude exhibits the sculptor's best known subject.

Robert Graham (1938-2008) was an artist known for his naturalistic nude bronzes which commemorate the human figure and explore them from every perspective imaginable. Characterized by his independent vision, the artist followed his own passions and style through many twentieth century trends and movements. Graham has worked on numerous national commissions including designs for the National Medal of Arts and Spirit of Liberty Award, as well as contributing to such civic monuments as the Franklin Delano Roosevelt Memorial in 1997 (Washington, DC), the Charlie “Bird” Parker Memorial (Kansas City, MO), and the Olympic Gateway in 1984 (Los Angeles, CA).
