Lot Details

92.5 x 60 cm
French painter and sculptor Robert Combas (b. 1957) is a founding member of the 1980’s “Figuration Libre” movement— he has exhibited in museums worldwide since his 1983 solo exhibition at Leo Castelli in New York. Inspired by popular culture, Combas brings cartoon and graffiti into his colorful work, as he explores societal themes such as violence, sex and human nature—these works can be seen as a reaction to minimal and conceptual art. The artist currently lives and works in Paris.
