"Mushroom & Moon" (2008) is a rare and exciting large acrylic and mixed-media painting on paper by Rina Banerjee who is one of the most famous Indian Contemporary multi-media artists working today. Banjeree's thematically complex watercolor, ink and graphite works on paper and sculptures have garnered her international acclaim, with collectors and curators alike. This work on paper is a major example of Rina’s most recent series of ongoing surreal and subversive figurative works that deal with issues of feminism, sexuality, the nature-culture dialectic and the human subconscious. This work measures 30 x 22 inches, is in perfect condition and is professionally and archivally framed to larger dimensions.

Rina Banerjee was born in Kolkata, India in 1963 and received her undergraduate degree at Case Western Reserve University in 1993, and her Masters of Fine Art degree at Yale University, Yale School of Art. She won the prestigious Skowhegan- Yale Painting scholarship award and the Norfolk-Yale summer program Drawing award. Banerjee has exhibited internationally throughout Europe, Asia, and the US, with special exhibitions at Clair Oliver Gallery in New York; Haunch of Venison, London, UK; Peabody Essex Museum, Salem US.; PS1/Moma, New York; Queens Museum of Art, New York; Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art, among many others. The artist presently lives and works in New York, US.
