Multi-layered aquatint with etching printed colors, 1991, two prints from a set of three all printed on wove paper with margins.

American artist Richmond Burton (b.1960) is an abstract painter and printmaker. Primarily exploring abstraction, his style ranges from geometric compositions to whimsical works while always maintaining dynamically expressive forms and vibrant color palettes. Burton graduated from Rice University in Houston, Texas, where he received his BA in 1982 as well as his Bachelor of Architecture in 1984. His first job was with I.M.Pei, often called a master of modern architecture. Because of this background, his earlier art reflects an architectural reference. He has since gone on to exhibit his work at numerous museums and galleries including the Art Institute of Chicago, The Museum of Modern Art, New York, the Mario Diacono Gallery, Boston Ma (2003) the Goss Gallery, Dallas, TX (2005)and the Chelsea Art Museum, New York, NY (2006).
