Lot Details

Richard Woods’s “Untitled” 2010 is a great example of the artist’s vibrant paintings, sculptures, and installations reminiscent of William Morris’s printed design. Focusing on the hand-made aspects of the decorative arts tradition, Woods’s “Untitled” makes use of the wood block technique to depict a vibrant, iconic monarch butterfly.

Richard Woods was born 1966 in Chester, United Kingdom, and currently lives and works in London. His works have been exhibited in many prominent venues throughout the world, such as Lever House (New York, NY); City Hall Park (commissioned by the Public Art Fund) (New York, NY); The Serpentine Gallery (London, England); Wimbledon School of Art at Oxford University (Oxford, England); The Henry Moore Foundation (Leeds, England); Art Leicester Square (London, England); and the 2008 Liverpool Biennial (Liverpool, England).
