Revs is a pioneering graffiti artist who gained widespread recognition in 1990s New York for his monumental and instantly recognizable tagging on public surfaces throughout the city. Frequently collaborating with fellow graffiti artist Cost, who would be arrested in 1994, Revs incorporated wheat-pasted elements and roller tags into his work, among other innovations. After a long hiatus following Cost’s arrest, Revs began making street art again, focusing on striking sculptural works made from construction-grade steel and other industrial materials; these works are often found welded to buildings (by permission of the owners) across Lower Manhattan and DUMBO.
