DR. REVOLT is a New York-based street artist. REVOLT’s involvement in the graffiti scene dates from the 1970s, when he was a member of the famed subway graffiti crew The Rolling Thunder Writers (RTW). During that time, he became known for his ultra-colorful tags and elaborate pieces on the Broadway #1 line, with their psychedelic and comic art-influenced style. Later, he began writing across the city. REVOLT contributed to the classic hip-hop films “Wild Style and “Style Wars,” and participated in the 80s East Village art gallery scene. Over the course of his career, he has also been involved in various music videos, album covers, animation and comic projects, vinyl toy design, and the design of the classic “YO! MTV Raps” logo. His early 80s tour of duty in the city of Baltimore is credited with igniting a graffiti scene there. REVOLT has designed logos and album covers for The Fun Lovin’ Criminals, Grandmaster Flash, and The Black Crows, among numerous others.
