Lot Details

"Sobre La Mesa" (1992) is a brightly hued acrylic on canvas by, Raul Torres Rojas (Argentinian), known as the father of prismatic abstraction. In this composition, powerful strokes form a Spanish guitar and a vase of flowers. The forceful strokes of Rojas add a sense of dynamism that echos throughout the piece. Raul Torres Rojas says of his work: "The color palette is an inevitable starting point of the painter’s work. At some stage, in my continuous search for a different order to start from, I found necessary to look out for an external element that could provide an alternative order, at once fascinating and never traveled. And there was the prism, with a perfect symphony of colors for a palette eager for original and present challenges.
There it was, the Prismatic Abstraction, as it was named by Christner and Weiss." This work measures 27 x 24 inches (68.6 x 61 cm) and is unframed in excellent condition.
