Lot Details

In 1994, Polish conceptual artist Rafal Bujnowski, along with Marcin Maciejowski and Wilhelm Sasnal, founded the group ‘Ladnie’, meaning “nice” in Polish. This common word is representative of Bujnowski’s work – which is often referred to as flat – as both the word “nice” and Bujnowski’s painted representations of the everyday are deceptively straightforward, yet evoke a variety of meanings depending on the circumstance. In ‘Window’, Bujnowski paints an unassuming white window frame that looks out at a vacant, grey vista. The flat surface provides a vague sense of space that offers an array of experiences and interpretations. Depending on the viewer and the surroundings, ‘Window’ continually transforms to reveal new depths and function.

Please note, there are minor markings along the top of the canvas from previous shipping and handling of the work. The work is overall in good condition. The few grey paint splatters are original, done by the artist.
