Lot Details

A rare, large-scale image by acclaimed graffiti artist, QUIK, 'Felix' features his iconic appropriation of his Jamie cartoon and is accomplished in spray paint, acrylic, and marker on a laminated subway poster. The paper is in good condition, as this is a reclaimed map from the NYC transit system, there are some small tears consistent with many of QUIK's reclaimed pieces. Signed verso in marker and dated 2012.

Growing up in Queens, New York, Lin Felton aka 'Quik' (b. 1958) started tagging around his neighborhood during the 1970’s and by the 1980's he was one of the few New York graffiti artists to be shown in art galleries and museums. Throughout his career, Quik's artistic style has matured to include ironic commentaries on social, political, and personal topics while still maintaining his personality and the spirit of graffiti. Quik has exhibited widely throughout the United States and abroad, with recent solo shows at Green Flowers Art Gallery, Boulogne-Billancourt, France; AAA Gallery, Rotterdam, Netherlands; Avenir Finance, Paris, France; and Galerie Arte Ventuno, Brussels.
