Lot Details

Pierre Molinier "Mon cul" - 1967 but later printed by his daughter Françoise Molinier
Dimensions: 12.5x17.5CM.
Overall in good condition

French Surrealist painter and photographer Pierre Molinier (1900-1976), whose work was a precursor to body art, created a fetishist photographic universe in which he was the subject of his sexual fantasies. Most of the artist’s provocative pornographic photomontages involve transvestitism; masked faces, sexual objects and accessories.

Acclaimed “genius” by André Breton in a text published in 1956, Molinier’s work reminds us of Bellmer’s “Poupée”, while his technique has inspired contemporary artists such as Cindy Sherman.
