Paul McCarthy (b. 1945) is an influential artist who is best known for his confrontation works that analyze popular and mass media and consumerism in the U.S. He has been collaborating with his son Damon McCarthy (b. 1973) since 2000. As a pair, the two mainly work on performance and video installations that tend to be visually provocative and conceptual in nature. Damon often films these pieces, but the two collaborate to form the conceptual bases for their works.
