Lot Details

The human face was a constant source of inspiration for Picasso, and many of his ceramics feature this subject. This turned pitcher of white earthenware clay has a smiling face painted in blue on a white background. The wide spout is adorned with black and red stripes and blue and white spots. It is decorated in engobes, which consists of a fine clay mixed with coloring oxides, under partial brushed glaze. It bears a Madoura stamp and inscription on the underside.
