The human face was a constant source of inspiration for Picasso, and many of his ceramics feature this subject. This turned ice pitcher of white earthenware clay has a heart-shaped face painted in blue. Its conical opening, small bulbous spout and rounded handle are decorated with blue stripes. It bears a Madoura stamp and inscription on the underside.
