Lot Details

In this beautiful photograph, Oliver Boberg presents a classic example of the intricately constructed urban landscape photographs that he is known for. Knowing that the only product from his practice will be a single image, Boberg meticulously constructs three dimensional models from his documentation of cities, using a brilliant trickery reminiscent of stage design. The resulting work eerily presents an urban landscape infused with loss and absence, with an almost post-apocalyptic climate.

Boberg was born and raised in Herten, Germany. His works have been exhibited at The Power Plant, Toronto; the Musée de l’Elysée, Switzerland; L.A. Galerie, Frankfurt; Shanghai Duolun Museum of Modern Art; Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, San Francisco; Koldo Mixtelena Kulturunea, San Sebastian, Spain; and the Museum of Contemporary Photography, Chicago, IL. His work can be found in the permanent collections of the Guggenheim Museum, New York; Museum of Modern Art, New York; Museum of Modern Art, San Francisco; and LAC in Geneva, Switzerland.
