This vibrant portrayal of a spirited young adventurer captures the bravery and optimism of venturing out to the great blue sea. This painting by one of the great American artists depicts the spirit of freedom at our nation's core. The painting was a study for another work by Rockwell that was reproduced on the cover of the April 14, 1928 Saturday Evening Post. During his career, Rockwell created 321 covers for the Saturday Evening Post, and these covers have come to define the artist's prolific career.
