Known for his surreal style of figuration, "Little Girl No. 7" is a vibrant example of Chinese artist Meng Yangyang's portraiture. This work on canvas belongs to the artist's series of similar portraits that explore the psychology of youth. Here, Meng captures a haunting image of a young girl, captured in vivid gestural strokes of purples, pinks and yellows.
Born in Chongqing, China in 1983, Meng Yangyang graduated from Sichuan Fine Arts Institute in 2006. Meng's paintings have been the subject of solo and group exhibitions internationally, including the 2011 solo show: "Youth", Gallery Beijing Space, Beijing, China, the 2010 solo: "Meng Yangyang", Gallery J.CHEN, Taiwan. Notable group exhibitions at galleries including Madhouse Contemporary Gallery, Hong Kong; J & Z Gallery, Shenzhen, China; Mizuma & One Gallery, Beijing, China; Osage Gallery, Shanghai, China. The artist presently lives and works in Beijing.
