Lot Details

This 2009 untitled Mehdi Mirbagheri print is an exemplary example of the artist's signature portraiture style. Here, a simple portrait of a woman has been transformed, through the artist's use of bright colors and patterning, into a modern and beautiful representation of the face.

Contemporary artist Mehdi Mirbagheri (B. 1980, Tehran, Iran) is known for his works of painting and graphic design. He earned his diploma in Graphic Design from Soureh Art School in 1997, and both his B.A. and M.A. in Painting from the Department of Art & Architecture, central Tehran branch Azad University in 2003 and 2007, respectively. His paintings employ a distinct technique of transforming historically appropriated portraiture, into revamped retro busts with bright pigments and exceptional patterning. Mirbagheri is a member of the Iranian Graphic Designers Society and the Society of Iranian Painters (SIP). His work has been exhibited prominently in Tehran, Iran, including the Museum of Contemporary Art and Saba Museum, as well as numerous galleries such as ARYA gallery and Nar Gallery, where the artist held solo shows.
