In his series "Lakes and Resevoirs," Matthew Brandt develops his photographs in the waters that are depicted in the image, making each print unique. He gathers water from the lake or reservoir, and soaks each C-print for days or even months in the water until he achieves the desired effect. The process alters the colors of the image, often abstracting all or part of the print. The series both reimagines the tradition of color photography and provides an environmental commentary on the current state of our lakes and reservoirs.
