"Ganesh" (2000) is a fantastic example of the harmonious, yet dynamic figurative works that define the oeuvre of one of the most famous Modern Indian artist M.F. Husain (India, 1915-2011). In his definite and expressive style, Husain depicts the elephant headed Hindu god Ganesh who reaches out to a bird while he reclines, denoting god and nature as one. Engaging in his use of bold colors and definite mark-making, and cubist techniques, Husain is famous for works which inspire movement and beauty through his figurative subjects. This work is in excellent condition measuring 14.17 x 16.93 (36 x 43 cm) and is larger as archivally and custom framed. This work comes with a formal certificate f authenticity.

M.F. Husain a proclaimed self-taught artist, was born in Maharashtra an area in West India in 1915. From a young age he had an affinity for drawing, and found his first foray into the arts by apprenticing a billboard painter in Mumbai. In 1947 he was recognized with an award at an exhibition at the Bombay Art Society. His work is characterized by capturing the true and honest nature of the human condition through his unique painting style. In 1971 he was invited, along with Pablo Picasso, to the Sao Paulo Biennial and in subsequent years was the focus of several retrospectives in Calcutta, Mumbai, and Delhi. His work has been exhibited at the Royal Academy of the Arts and Tate Gallery both in London, the Hirshhorn Museum, Washington D.C. In recent years he has also pioneered many artistic efforts in other artistic fields including video and installation art and continues making painting which is celebrated today. He currently lives in Mumbai, India and has studios in other cities as well.
