During the early 20th century, Marcel Duchamp and Man Ray became the most controversial and innovative figures on the art scene. Duchamp developed the concept of the ‘readymade’, presenting everyday objects as artwork, one of the most celebrated examples of which was his reincarnation of a urinal entitled “Fountain”. Meanwhile, Man Ray focused on the development of avant-garde photography, using innovative photographic and film techniques to produce works of art. The artists met in 1915, and quickly became close friends. They shared a similar taste for art, humor, irony and the erotic. This wonderful vintage print is a tribute to the mutual admiration which motivated them to establish the Dada movement.
