This visually and conceptually powerful and ironic “Khate Poolsaze Parsi” (2010) has a title which comes from the Farsi text inscribed across the eight canvas panels that comprise this single work, which translates to 'The Money- Making Persian Calligraphy'. "Khate Poolsaze Parsi" (2010) is a museum-level, mixed media work on canvas by internationally acclaimed young Persian artist, Mahmoud Bakhshi (Iran, b. 1977). Bakhshi's paintings, installations, and sculptures all deal with the aesthetics of post-revolutionary Iran, composed of a distinctive combination of ideological Islam, industrial capitalism, and the liberational iconography of the 1979 Revolution. The artist's work represents a struggle between an art that is self-conscious of its independence, and the propaganda of the state. Recently Bakhshi has integrated everyday objects from Iran into his work that have acquired a political character beyond their banal everyday qualities. This work is AP 1 from Edition of 1 + 2AP, measures 78.75 x 94.49 inches (200 cm x 240 cm) and is in excellent condition.

Mahmoud Bakhshi received his BA in Sculpture from the Faculty of Fine Arts at the University of Tehran in 2001. The artist has participated in select solo and group museum and gallery shows in the U.S., Europe, Asia and the Middle East. The artist lives and works in Iran, and is represented by the prestigious Galerie Thaddaeus Ropac, Paris, France where he has had a solo exhibition in 2011 and Etemad Gallery, Dubai, U.A.E. and Tehran, Iran.
