Lot Details

A very rare lithograph which comes from a variant series of 13 unique pieces, each printed on a different vintage fabric. This piece is hand printed on linen in two shades of red. The "Au Bon Marche" insignia on the cloth is taken from the world's largest Parisian department store's brand, from the early 1900s. The double-faced figure is based on decorative architectural supports called caryatids and presents a dual self-portrait of the artist. This work was conceived as an homage to the World Trade Center. Bourgeois hand embroidered her initials in red thread in the lower right corner as her signature. In excellent condition, archivally hinged with thread to an acid free back matt.
