'Red Age' (2011) is a visually arresting oil painting by rising star, emerging Chinese Contemporary female artist Liu Fei (China. b. 1983). She is known for her photorealist oil paintings that make social commentaries about the East vs. West, old China versus new China. Here, the future is represented by the small, harmless metal robot who inspects up-close up a colorful Red-Guard era medallion with the eponymous portrait of Mao in profile on its surface. Her ability to create social commentaries through paintings that possess a veneer of innocence, filled with visually seductive imagery, is clever and poignant. This work measures 25.60 x 21.65 inches unframed and is in excellent condition.

Liu Fei (B. 1983) is one of the most celebrated and collected artists of her young "80's Generation" in China. She is celebrated and collected throughout Asia and Europe, only recently being exhibited in the U.S and North America. The artist graduated with a Master's Degree from the Oil Department of the elite Sichuan Academy of Fine Arts, Chongqing, China. The artist lives and works in China.
