Lot Details

'Broken No. 2' (2008) is one of the largest and most charming of the oil paintings by rising star, young Chinese Contemporary female artist Liu Fei (b. 1983). She is internationally known for her photorealist works that make clever social commentaries on old China versus new China. This painting is one of her largest to-date, measuring 70.87 x 55.12 inches (180 x 140 cm) is unframed and in excellent condition. Easily ships professionally rolled world-wide. The broken, pure white porcealin plate displayed in a traditional Chinese wooden stand represents the culture of China's past, slowly crumbling away. 'New" China" is represented by the shiny metallic robotic bird who is depicted at the center of the plate, intentionally imitating a traditional family crest.
