"Red Hands" (2008) is a sought-after painted resin sculpture by Chinese Contemporary artist Liu Bolin. Dimensions: 47.2 in high (120 cm), from an edition of 16, and in excellent condition. “Red Hands”, belong to an iconic series of sculptures started in 2007-2009 by Liu, composed of monochromatic red or white boys. Liu plays with the contrast between the use of a bright color, a smooth shiny coating, positive physical pose (youthful bodies, radiant smiles, arched and energetic positions…)and the handicap of their blindness. Captured in adolescent naivety, they seem unaware of the world around them. Whether they are born blind or blinded by others, they remain dependent on those that govern them, blissfully content in their ignorance.
