Lot Details

"Hiding in the City No. 91: Great Wall" (2010) by Chinese Contemporary artist Liu Bolin is one of his most visually and conceptually acclaimed images from his world-famous "Hiding in the City" series. Liu Bolin began his "Hiding in the City" series of color photographs in 2005-06. Every photograph in this series is a clever self-portrait, and here the artist literally has his assistant paint himself away and absorbed into the history an cultural fabric of "China" itself, standing still with eyes closed against Great Wall of China, intricately camouflaged into the grey bricks of the Wall, as well as the lush green mountains and blue sky at Bolin's back, through which the Wall meanders majestically. This photograph is from the formal set of 8 printed at 31.50 x 47.25 inches (80 x 120 cm), is archivally framed to larger dimensions, but can be shipped unframed and professionally rolled, as winning bidder desires. The photograph is in a private collection, E.U., in perfect condition and comes with all relevant paperwork and the formal certificate of authenticity from the studio of the artist.
