Contemporary American artist Lisa Yuskavage (b. 1962) is known for her distinct style, which incorporates confrontational female sexuality and the innocence of youth. Often combining elements of art history and gender perceptions with her work, Yuskavage reinvents the genre of the female nude, either through the general psycho-socio realm of femininity or through the individual level of women contemplating themselves on a narcissistic level. The artist received her BFA in 1984 from the Tyler School of Art at Temple University and her MFA from Yale School of Art in 1986. The artist has been represented by David Zwirner Gallery in New York since 2005. She has exhibited at numerous venues internationally including the Museum Moderner Kunst Stiftung Ludwig Wien, Vienna, Austria; The Museum of Modern Art, New York, NY; and The National Art Museum, Beijing, China.
