"State of Meditation (2012)" is a large-scale, ethereal and quietly intense painting of a figure with eyes closed, deep in spiritual contemplation, as the title suggests, by one of the most famous Chinese Contemporary artists working today, Liao Zhenwu. The artist's iconic manner of figurative painting is defined by the ephemeral and spectral-like figural compositions seemingly created from dreams, memories and energy. Liao's paintings have a sense of the ethereal and the otherworldly, stunningly encapsulating physical, emotional and spiritual well-being in this rare, vertical-formatted work. "State of Meditation" measures 59.05 x 78.30 (150 x 180 cm) and is in excellent condition. This can easily be shipped internationally either rolled or on its stretchers, as winning bidder desires.

The artist has gained such popularity in the West in the past few years, that a painting of his was the top selling lot November 2 2011 at Doyle's NY Auction House "Modern and Contemporary Art" auction, and also a world record for the artist, selling for over $194,000 USD premium. Liao's paintings like "State of Meditation" have placed him at top museums and galleries world-wide. In 2010, his solo exhibition "Liao Zhenwu: MONUMENT", began at Today Art Museum, Beijing; traveling to Sichuan University Museum, China and Hua Museum of Art, China. Museum group shows include in 2009: "Evolution of Art History: New Cultural Art", Gefeng Contemporary Art Gallery, China and "In Order to Forget the Memory- The Power of Sihuan", Museum of Central Academy of Fine Art , Beijing, China. In 2008 his paintings were in "Southwest Power Contemporary Art Exhibition", Yuangong Art Museum, Shanghai that traveled to Sichuan Art Museum. The artist graduate with a Fine Arts Degree from the Fine Arts Department, Sichuan College of Education, China.
