Sentimental and soft, emerging Chinese artist Le Kejun (b, 1963) photographs familiar characters and lives of the rural village people of the Henan province, replete with whimsical humor and quiet tone. In "Rural Folks No. 20"(2010) Kejun captures a gathering of the common farm hands cheerfully laughing as they pose, appearing carefree and unassuming despite a lack of modern equipment and industrial resources. As customary to Kejun's techniques, he slightly exaggerates and distorts his figures to enhance the comical qualities of his characters, as well as elements of contemporary art. This work measures 23.62 x 35.43 inches (60 x 90 cm) and is unframed in excellent condition.
