Lot Details

"Untitled, (Plate 49), From the Series, The Park" (1979) is a gelatin silver print, black and white photograph by Japanese photographer Kohei Yoshiyuki.
Edition 4 of 10. Image size: 16 x 20 inches (40.60 x 50.80 cm). Excellent condition. The photos in 'The Park' series were taken in Tokyo’s Shinjuku, Yoyogi, and Aoyama parks during the 1970s. Yoshiyuki used a 35mm camera, infrared film, and flash to document the people who gathered there at night for clandestine trysts, as well as the many spectators lurking in the bushes who watched—and sometimes participated in—heterosexual and homosexual encounters. This photograph was exhibited in a solo exhibition at Yossi Milo Gallery, who represents the artist: "Kohei Yoshiyuki: The Park", September 6–October 20, 2007, where the present U.S. Collector acquired this work.
