Lot Details

"Exodus Eclipse" (2002) is a lively abstract mixed media work on paper by Contemporary Indian artist, Keren Souza Kohn, the daughter of post-Modern Indian artist F.N. Souza. Souza Kohn is known for her two separate series of works on paper, abstract works on paper such as this that reference traditional Indian colors, themes and patterns found in architectural details and decorative elements, and her series of city-scapes and representational portraits. This work's small size belies the influence of Persian miniatures on Souza Kohn's works, as well as growing up surrounded by her father's many works on paper completed at this scale. "Exodus Eclipse" is window framed on acid free stock, is unframed measuring 10.83 x 13.78 inches, and is in excellent condition.

British-Indian artist Keren Souza-Kohn, daughter of renowned painter F.N. Souza, has created her own niche in the contemporary art world. Focusing on figurative as well as abstract works, such as this wonderfully dynamic mixed media abstract work, Souza-Kohn has been influenced by such artists including her father, as well as El Greco, Goya, Miro, Matisse, and Philip Guston. The artist produces incredibly dramatic works, infusing her compositions with a love of color, dynamic forms, and unexpected imagery. Kohn-Souza’s work hints at subliminal narratives, weaving dreamscapes with personal journeys into her watercolors, oils, and drawings. The artist has exhibited internationally at such venues as Jaffo Gallery (Tel Aviv, Israel), White Space Gallery (London, UK), and Gallery 7 (Hong Kong, China), among numerous others.
