Lot Details

"Cornish Summer"(1998) is a lively, early and mixed media work on paper by Contemporary British-Indian artist, Keren Souza Kohn, the daughter of post-Modern Indian artist F.N. Souza. Souza-Kohn is known for her colorful paintings and abstract works on paper such as this that reference traditional Indian colors, themes and patterns found in architectural details and decorative elements, with her oeuvre ranging from lively portraits to abstract works to city-scapes. This work's small size underscores the influence of Indian miniatures on Souza-Kohn's works, as well as growing up surrounded by her father's many small works on paper completed at this scale. Kohn-Souza’s work hints at subliminal narratives, weaving dream-scapes with personal journeys into her watercolors, oils, and drawings. This work measures 10.83 x 12 inches (27.50 x 30.50 cm) and is in excellent condition, window mounted on acid free stock, unframed and comes to this sale directly from the Studio of the Artist.
