This untitled work by KAWS exemplifies the artist's characteristic use of graffiti style art. Bold lettering, sharp colors, and thick lines are employed throughout the composition in a dynamic play of letters and forms.
KAWS, aka Brian Donnelly, is a New Jersey born graffiti writer turned contemporary art phenom. Before selling out individual gallery exhibitions, the artist was catching tags, painting billboards, and doing roller-painted throw ups all over New York City with fellow writers REAS, REVOKE, and others. KAWS started gaining mainstream notoriety when he began altering wheat paste advertisements with his signature Skull characters. Today the artist's work ranges from rare vinyl toy lines to re-contexualized pop culture paintings of the Simpsons and Sponge Bob.
