Lot Details

Julian Opie, born in 1958, is a British artist and former trustee of the Tate Gallery in London, England. These works are characterized by flat areas of color, minimal detail and cartoon-like, thick black lines. Influenced by Paul Caulfield and Michael Craig-Martin, Opie often transforms the computerized images into vinyl sculptures and installations in order to display the artwork in tangible form. Opie is known for the cover artwork of the British band Blur’s best of album. His digital imagery was also included in U2’s 2005 Vertigo World Tour.
From a series of 9, three-part, flocked acrylic panels, each contained in a sprayed black aluminium frame.
