Lot Details

"Aima" (2010) by emerging Chinese Contemporary artist Ju Duoqi (China, b. 1973) is an image recreated and inspired by the iconic, glamorous pin up women of the 50s and 60s whose mass produced photos have seen wide appeal in contemporary culture. This large-scale color photograph belongs to the artist's newest series "Fantasies of Chinese Cabbages" where Ju painstakingly recreates iconic Western images of the female beauty in intricate arrangements of fruits and vegetables to replace color and texture. In this process, Ju questions and explores the "Western version"of pop culture and art history through the eyes of an Eastern female artist. This photograph is an edition of 7, measuring 39.37 x 31.5 inches, and comes unframed in excellent condition.

Ju Duoqi was born in 1973 in Chongqing, China and graduated from Sichuan Fine Arts College in 1996.
