Lot Details

"Laughing Buddha: Random #2-10" (2008) is a tour-de-force cast bronze sculpture in the round of an overly corpulent laughing Buddha, grinning from ear to ear as he balances impossibly with the grace of a dancer by exciting Chinese artist John Deng. This is edition 2/10, the final edition of this sold-out work, measures 21.25 x 11.80 x 9.85 inches (54 x 30 x 25 cm) and is in excellent condition. The artist is famous for his ongoing series of Smiling Buddha sculptures that each represent the will of the human spirit against seemingly impossible or difficult situations. The artist is from Beijing, China and presently lives and works in Australia.
