Lot Details

"Satellite Dish" (2011) is one of the largest and most accomplished works from the ongoing, famed Series of realist oil paintings of the American urban landscape by American Contemporary artist John Aquilino. In this strictly horizontal painting, the artist presents a cross-section of the varied and dynamic architecture, concentrating on the relationship of one building to another in his iconic manner of creating geometric patterns of light and shadow and painting buildings walls, windows, roofs and doorways in flat, broad swaths of brilliant Pop art inspired colors. This work is custom framed and is in excellent condition.

John Aquilino was born and raised in New York City, US. The artist's paintings are held in select Private, Museum and Corporate collections world-wide as well as awarded major US public commissions. In 2010, Aquilino was selected by an elite curatorial panel as one of the top emerging American painters in the prestigious publication:"New American Paintings" Issue #88, June/July 2010. In 2010 Aquilino was also awarded the "Arts & Humanities Council of Montgomery County Individual Artist Grant" and "Maryland State Arts Council Individual Artist Award" in Painting. The artist currently lives and works in New York.
