"Midday Shadow" (2012) by American Contemporary artist John Aquilino is one of the his most dynamic realist oil paintings to date. This snapshot of urban architecture belongs to a famous ongoing series of similar works by the artist. This work is painted in flat layered colors, based on patterns, light and shadows in a square format. This painting measures 30 x 30 inches unframed
and is framed in the artist's original, white wood frame to larger dimensions and is in excellent condition.

Aquilino is internationally renowned by scholars and collectors alike for his photorealist oil paintings that embrace his ongoing fascination and unique interpretation of the urban American landscape. The artist's emotional connection to the urban environment is admittedly linked to his love of his native New York City, where he was born, raised and attended University. Aquilino received his formal training at New York University (3-D modeling and Animation), The Art Students League, NY (BFA Painting and Drawing), and The School of Visual Arts, NY (MFA in Painting and Drawing). His prestigious corporate and public art commissions include works for The D.C Council on the Arts and Humanities, Washington, DC; The National Association of Home Builders, Washington, DC; Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton LLP, Washington, D.C. He was featured in "New American Paintings," #88, June/July 2010 edition. Aquilino lives and works in Washington D.C., US.
