"Butterfly Dream" (2008) is a stunning and rare color lithograph by one of China's most famous Contemporary Realist artists, Jiang Guofang (China, b. 1951), internationally acclaimed for his incredibly detailed figurative works based on sumptuous historical Chinese themes and narratives. Here a ceremoniously woman in an elaborately embellished robe rests amidst an open ethereal field surrounded by flitting butterflies. This print is edition 2 of 20 measures 35.43 x 35.43 inches, (90 x 90 cm) and is in excellent condition.

Jiang Guofang was born in Shangjiang Village, in Jiangxi Province. Due to the onset of the Cultural Revolution in China, the artist studied art in secrecy private, with artist Hong Shutong as tutor. The artist formally studied at the Central Academy of Fine Arts where he eventually became a professor of art. Jiang was the first Contemporary artist to be offered a solo exhibition in The Forbidden City in Beijing in 2004, and was awarded the "Beijing Blue Ribbon" at the 6th National Arts Exhibition. His paintings are held in the permanent collection Hong Kong Museum. The artist has exhibited in Museum and Gallery venues throughout China, Hong Kong, Singapore and Asia.
