Refusing to bind himself to a single medium, artist Ji Wenyu, a pioneer of Chinese Political Pop, is famous for works such this rare, sewn and stuffed cotton sculpture "Dragon Boat Festival", that explores the combination of strong imagery, intelligent humor, and formal precision in a unique manner. Dimensions: 26 x 24 x 15 in (66 x 63.50 x 38.10 cm) Unique. Acquired by present U.S. collector directly from the Shangart Gallery who exhibited "Dragon Boat Festival" at Art Basel, Switzerland in 2004. In Ji's rare, highly collectable stuffed fabric sculptures that are often created in collaboration with his wife Zhu Weibing, Ji blends ingenuous and aesthetically pleasing objects that together make his works so compelling as so vividly seen here.
