Jerry Uelsmann, Apocalypse II, 1967. Vintage gelatin silver print, image size is 10 5/8 x 13 5/8 inches (27 x 34.6 cm); mount size is 16 x 20 inches (40.6 x 50.8 cm). Signed, titled, dated and initialed. Printed no later than 1971.

Jerry Uelsmann is a master technician, using the darkroom extensively and working from multiple negatives to create each work. A pioneer of this type of photography, Uelsmann developed his own methods for integrating images, using multiple enlargers and utilizing the darkroom to its fullest extent, well before the invent of photoshop and digital technology. Creating a dreamlike world solely through meshing of various views of reality, Uelsmann is regarded as a mater and an innovator. Uelsmann holds a B.F.A. degree from the Rochester Institute of Technology and M.S. and M.F.A. degrees from Indiana University.
