Lot Details

A cheerful illustration of Jeremy Dickinson’s favorite subject matter of childhood objects, this oil on canvas painting, ‘Bus Jumping’, presents a world of make believe where toy cars can fly through the air as if they were real. Showing their age, the ware and deterioration of the cars is prominently displayed, conveying the extensive use and love that their owner had for these toys.

Jeremy Dickinson was born in 1963 in Yorkshire, England. He graduated from York College of Arts and Technology in 1983 and Goldsmith’s College, London, England in 1986. His detail oriented paintings are consumed with nostalgic imagery, often featuring colorful backdrops and childhood toys, some even Dickinson’s own. His warm, youthful compositions have won him much acclaim and have been the subject of numerous exhibitions throughout the world. Recent solo shows of Dickinson’s work include ‘New Paintings’, Anthony Meier Fine Arts, San Francisco, CA (2011); Seomi & Tuus, Seoul, Korea (2010); Tomio Koyama Gallery, Tokyo, Japan (2010); DOSA, Los Angeles, CA (2010); Galerie Xippas, Athens, Greece (2009); and ‘Fishbowl Histories’, Sara Meltzer Gallery, New York, NY (2008).
