Lot Details

Set of ten prints with one signed by the artist in blue pen on the light pink paper. Printed between 1979-1982. A different paragraph statement on each panel.

The 'Inflammatory Essays’ were first published in book form by the artist as Black Book Posters in 1979. The series was then conceived to present as street posters. Holzer used offset lithography to print the texts on as many different colored papers possible. These were put up in public spaces and pushed the artist's text based work from short truism statement form into longer challenging paragraphs, with viewpoints expressed from the 'far right' to the 'far left'.
