Lot Details

These two unique, original hand-signed flower drawings were created by pioneering art world superstar Jeff Koons at the opening reception of his exhibition "Jeff Koons: New Paintings and Sculpture" on Thursday May 9, 2013 at the legendary Gagosian Gallery in Chelsea, Manhattan.

As additional provenance, the winning bidder will be furnished with a copy of the press release (see photos) dated April 29, 2013 describing Koons' amazing career and announcing the May exhibition and opening reception.

These charming drawings were created on the first front end page and title page of the lavishly illustrated hardback monograph "Celebration," published on the occasion of his 2009 exhibition at the Neue Nationalgalerie in Berlin. Koons' "Celebration" is a series of large-scale sculptures and paintings of balloon dogs, Valentine hearts, diamonds, and Easter eggs, among others, which were conceived twenty years ago, continuing through to the present. It is a fine reference on that aspect of Koons' oeuvre.

These two unique drawings would make a fantastic gift.
