Lot Details

Executed in 1983 and reproduced in conjunction with the artist's estate in 2001, "Ernok" is instantly recognizable as the work of Jean-Michel Basquiat, who gained wide recognition in the New York City art scene of the 1980s. Basquiat's works typically employ a graffiti style, using many bright colors, often weaving cryptic text into his images. The figure in "Ernok" is depicted in Basquiat's signature style with its scrawled facial featured and disjointed-looking body.
This work was done after one of Basquiat's paintings, selected because of its iconic imagery to become one of 4 prints in a portfolio published by David DeSanctis Contemporary Art, New York and Gerard Basquiat (executor of the Estate of Jean-Michel Basquiat). Some minor damages to the frame. If preferred, this work can be shipped unframed.
