Jules Cavaillès (1901 - 1977) was an extremely well known and talented painter. He was part of the group known as 'Painters of the poetic reality' (La réalité poétique). The artist worked in oils, gouache and pastel, and his subject matter featured figures, portraits, nudes, still lifes, flowers and landscapes.

The artist Jules Cavaillès was a painter whose art expressed the 'joy of living'. He adored cheerful images which conjured up the pleasures of life: sunny harbour scenes viewed through open windows, the lush countryside, naked women, and colorful flowers in decorative interiors.

His work is represented in many leading collections and museums, including the Modern Art Museum in Paris, and museums in Toulouse, Albi, Marseille, Chicago and Helsinki. Cavaillès showed work at the 1948 Venice Biennale.
