Lot Details

"rue Warhol" (2012) by Contemporary artist Jean-Jacques Deleval (b. 1945) combines stamping, text in the format of public signs and street graffiti with and pop images of Betty Boop and the iconic Campbell's soup can. This mixed media painting is accompanied with a formal Certificate of Authenticity, measuring 51.2 x 38.2 inches (130 x 97 cm) and is unframed in excellent condition.

Jean-Jacques Deleval studied at the Ecole Nationale des Beaux Arts in the 60s. On the recommendation of Salvador Dali, he moved to Rome where he studied Great Masters and techniques of restoration. He then moved back to Paris and worked as a restorer at Daniel Wildenstein's gallery and at the Louvre museum. From the 80s, he started to exhibit internationally such as in Spain, Germany, Belgium and America. Interested in techniques, he elaborated a new way of painting mixing splash of paints, photography, Photoshop, inkjet. From this tedious process, he gives a new modernity and glamor to the Pop Art style.
