Lot Details

James Rosenquist worked as a Times Square billboard painter before becoming a fine artist. In 1964, he joined the roster of artists at the Leo Castelli Gallery and he remains one of the most distinguished and influential pop artists of his generation. The artist creates visual narratives by taking fragmented realist images and combines them into intriguing compositions. He is considered one of the foremost artists working extensively in various printmaking mediums - publishing projects with well-established print publishers. Among many honors, he has been bestowed with a lifetime achievement award from the International Print Center in New York City.
